Kevin Spacey took a devilish turn when he played arch-villain Lex Luther in Superman Returns. The renowned actor obviously prefers to use his links to the caped crusader for more worthy ends in real life, though, as he has auctioned off a walk-on part in the movie's sequel in order to raise money for the theatre he runs in London.

Veteran rocker Sting and former supermodels Elle Macpherson and Claudia Schiffer were among the famous faces spotted at the Old Vic fundraising bash.

A date with Clark Kent's alter ego was just one of the lots on offer at the glitzy shindig. And Kevin must have been delighted with the success of his latest benefit, as an impressive half a million pounds had been collected by the time his showbiz pals headed for home.
