Regarded as a fashion icon by women all over Asia, Victoria Beckham had clearly taken inspiration from the Far East in choosing a stunning oriental-style gown by her old friend Roberto Cavalli for an awards gala in Germany.

The mum-of-three dazzled photographers at the Bambi Media Awards in Stuttgart when she made her entrance in a figure-hugging black and gold creation. She was joining a roll-call of showbiz friends, including chart-toppers The Scissor Sisters and design guru Karl Lagerfeld at the glitzy gala.

Hollywood favourite Samuel L Jackson was among the stars honoured at this year's event. The 58-year-old, who is among Tinseltown's most prolific actors, was presented with one of the coveted trophies in recognition of his many achievements on the silver screen.

The Bambi Awards, which have been running since 1948, are considered Germany's most prestigious showbiz honours, so it was small surprise to see so many big names in attendance. At this year's ceremony Queen Silvia of Sweden was on hand to present one of the trophies, along with local hero Boris Becker.
