With son Donald Junior's 30th birthday approaching, billionaire entrepreneur Donald Trump made it a family affair as he threw a birthday bash for his son and pregnant daughter-in-law Vanessa in New York.
The tycoon and his children were joined by other family members and friends at the event in a Big Apple toy store.
Donald Jr and his former model wife wed in an opulent pool-side ceremony in November last year, and recently announced they are expecting their first child in early summer. "Everyone's very excited," said 28-year-old Vanessa, radiant on the night in a flowing red gown and white shrug. "Although if you mention the 'grandpa' word (to Donald Sr), he might not be so excited!"
Unlike his 25-year-old socialite sister Ivanka, in the past Donald Jr has eschewed the high profile enjoyed by his headline-making dad. Now, however, with the news that the mogul's firstborn has agreed to appear on his father's reality TV show The Apprentice, all that looks set to change.
Initially, the younger man says he avoided publicity "because otherwise, I'm just Donald Trump's son, some little rich kid running around". When he started working for his father's business empire - where he's executive VP for acquisitions and development - he says he realised "there's an end goal, that I can use some of this. It would be like having an advantage and not taking advantage of it."
