Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond, who is still recovering from the spectacular crash that nearly cost him his life, has come to the rescue of another accident victim.

The 36-year-old rushed to the aid of a cyclist who crashed outside his house in Gloucestershire at the weekend.

Afterwards 19-year-old Adam Gellaty revealed the small screen favourite brought him blankets and stayed with him for an hour until an ambulance arrived.

Richard's wife Mindy then followed the injured teenager to the hospital to make sure he was OK, and returned four hours later to give him a lift home.

"I couldn't see where I was going and I hit a tree which had fallen across the road - it was quite a spectacular fall," he explained. "He and his wife came down with blankets and a pillow for me while I waited for an ambulance.

It was all a bit surreal. His wife came to collect me at hospital later because my parents were away. "The accident came three months after Richard lost control of a jet-powered supercar at 288mph.

Doctors say they have been amazed by the speed with which the presenter is recovering from the injuries he suffered.
