Small screen favourite Matt Lucas is accustomed to wearing all manner of eyebrow-raising costumes in his hit series Little Britain. And the popular funnyman apparently felt the celebrations that followed his civil partnership ceremony shouldn't be any different, as all the guests were called upon to wear fancy dress.
Those lucky enough to receive an invitation to reception, which came after the comedian pledged his commitment to long-time partner, TV producer Kevin McGee, were told to come dressed as pantomime characters. Sir Elton John and his other half David Furnish, who also marked their partnership this time last year, came as Captain Hook and Prince Charming respectively, while pop singer Will Young showed a less dashing side to his persona by dressing up as one of the three Ugly Sisters.
TV presenter Graham Norton was less mischievous than usual in his Buttons costume, but Pet Shop Boys singer Neil Tennant, magician Paul McKenna and chat show host Paul O'Grady were all looking devilish in their pirate outfits. The man at the centre of everyone's attention had meanwhile decided upon a rather more magical ensemble, turning up dressed as Ali Baba.
Among the other famous faces enjoying the fun at Banqueting House in Whitehall were Courtney Love, Barbara Windsor, Vic Reeves and, of course, Matt's Little Britain co-star David Walliams.
The official ceremony earlier in the day was a rather more private affair, though, with just a few close friends and loved ones on hand to witness the proceedings at Home House in London's Portman Square.
