David Beckham has put a huge price on his famously honed body and chiselled good looks. The world's highest-paid footballer has insured himself for £100 million - the biggest ever policy taken out in sport, and only rivalled by the likes of showbiz superstars Jennifer Lopez and Mariah Carey.
Former England captain David, who has six months of his contract left at Real Madrid, is thought to have struck the insurance deal across six different firms because of the huge sum involved. It will cover him in the event of injury, disfigurement and serious illness, but only if he steers clear of high risk activities like surfing or rock climbing.
The 31-year-old striker, who is currently on £100,000 a week at Real Madrid, is expected to be offered a new two-year deal to remain at the Spanish club. But 15 other clubs, including Inter Milan, Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur have all been inquiring about his availability - proving he's still considered one of the biggest talents in the sport.
Insuring one's body is nothing new in celebsville. Michael Flatley insured his legs for £25 million, while Ken Dodd's teeth are covered for a cool £4 million. Meanwhile Bruce Springsteen took out insurance to cover his legendary rock'n'roll growl to the tune of £3.5 million.
