In the latest chapter of Britney Spears and Kevin Federline's high-profile separation, the pair have come to a temporary arrangement about custody of their two children.
Under terms of the agreement, filed on Friday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Britney and Kevin will have joint legal custody during the month of January of their two children, one-year-old Sean Preston and four-month-old Jayden James.
Both children will continue to live with Britney in her Beverly Hills mansion, with Kevin allowed to visit the youngsters at the singer's home on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons, between noon and 4pm.
No decision has been reached beyond January, as both Britney and Kevin are seeking sole physical and legal custody of the children.
The mother-of-two, who has referred to the time since her November separation from Kevin as "a rocky period", is apparently keen to put her headline-making activities behind her and concentrate on her music career. Following a frenetic few weeks partying in the wake of the split, the singer told a US TV show that her New Year's resolution is "to take care of me". Clearly keen to kick off the year on that basis, on New Year's Day she checked into a health spa for a spot of rest and relaxation.
And her stay at a luxury Arizona retreat evidently gave the chart-topper time to ponder her next moves. Writing on her website on Friday, she said: "I've been able to sit down and think about where I want to go with myself as an entertainer with absolutely no strings attached. I am now more mature and feel like I am finally free," she revealed. "I've been working so hard on this new album, and I can't wait for you all to hear it, and to go on tour again!"
