After being beaten by an 11-year-old, Countdown numbers whiz Carol Vorderman seems to be considering a change of day job. The glamorous brunette has decided she would like to try her hand at acting, with roles in a Bond film or TV soap Coronation Street.

The intelligent 46-year-old suffered an embarrassing moment during a recent episode of Countdown when youngster Bradley Cates correctly answered a fiendish maths question which she had failed to figure out.

Despite her screen ambitions, perhaps she should be sticking to the day job though after admitting she's not a natural thespian. "I'm sure it's not rocket science, but I can't act at all. I've never had lessons or anything."

Nevertheless she says she'd love a part in a Bond film. "Perhaps a ten-second, walk-on-part or something," she says. But rather than portraying one of the glamorous Bond girls, her aspirations are something more in tune with her mathematical talents.

"I'd like a background role as a techie." She also wouldn't mind a cameo in popular soap Coronation Street. "When Peter Kay appeared in it last year, he talked about me and I thought that was just the business."

Despite admitting she can't act, glamorous Countdown presenter Carol says she fancies trying her hand at both silver and small screen roles. While her fans no doubt believe she has what it takes to be a Bond girl, the maths whiz thinks she'd be better off as a "techie"
