Local people in the picturesque city of Cannes, which is home to one of movie industry's most glamorous festivals, are accustomed to seeing Hollywood stars walking along their waterfront. On Saturday night it was the turn of the music industry's big names to make an impression on the French Riviera, however, as Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani and Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas joined a host of famous faces for the 2007 NRJ Awards.
The Dirrty singer, who gave a show-stopping performance of her latest single, took home the gongs for best international female and best album. And the inimitable Ms Stefani made an equally unforgettable impression when she arrived on the red carpet in a leather basque, before changing into a leopard-print dress when she took to the stage.
Fergie meanwhile opted for a flirtatious baby doll dress when her time came to step into the limelight. Among the other performers on the night were Canadian bombshell Nelly Furtado, who was named "international revelation of the year", and veteran crooner Lionel Richie.
Organisers of the glitzy bash had spared no expense in ensuring that their A-list guests enjoyed themselves. One part of the backstage area had been transformed into a Willy Wonka-inspired sweet factory, with hundreds of different goodies on offer for those with a sweet tooth.
