She may have ditched her hallmark skater chick look in favour of high heels and girly shorts for the video which accompanies her latest single Girlfriend, but Canadian chanteuse Avril Lavigne was her punky self in Beverly Hills on Wednesday.
And, freshly back with husband of nine months Deryck Whibley after a stint promoting her new album in Europe, 22-year-old Avril seemed happier than ever to be reunited with the Sum 41 frontman.
"We have a really good, strong relationship... There's a lot of trust. I know how much I mean to him," she says in the April issue of US magazine Jane, for which she is also the covergirl. "I'm the best thing that's ever happened to him," she quips.
Marrying Deryck could be one the best things to happen to the singer, too. Her new album, The Best Damn Thing, which she produced in collaboration with her husband, features a song performed in eight different languages, including Mandarin and Japanese. It would seem a clever move, as the singer's manager reveals that sales of her music in Asia are greater than in the entire Western hemisphere.
