After starring alongside Oscar-winning actress Diane Keaton in two instalments of the hit comedy Father Of The Bride, it comes as no surprise that Canadian-born funnyman Martin Short considers himself a colleague, friend and a fan of the radiant 61-year-old star. "All of those things," confirmed the Emmy-winning actor at a Monday night tribute gala hosted by the Film Society of Lincoln Center in New York City. "I think she's kind of sensational (at) everything," he added.

Along with a host of other celebrities, including Woody Allen, Meryl Streep, Steve Martin, and Candice Bergen, Martin finally had the chance to honour his long-time chum, who remains as busy as ever. She has three new films in the works - Mad Money with Katie Holmes, Smother, which also stars Liv Tyler, and Mama's Boy.

Martin's many fans in the Big Apple were in for a treat the following evening when the 57-year-old joined members of his Broadway musical Fame Becomes Me in a song and dance routine at a Times Square store. The event had been arranged to mark the release of a CD by the original cast.
