Having given birth to twin boys, Dexter and Frank, in December new mum Diana Krall has presumably been loathe to part with them for even a few hours. But when there's a good cause to consider, the Canadian-born chanteuse and her husband of three years, Elvis Costello, are clearly more than happy to lend their support.
In one of their first public appearances since welcoming the twins on December 6, the musical couple was all smiles - despite apparently having suffered a lack of shut-eye recently - as they stepped out to an New York charity gala on Monday night. It's clear family life is suiting the talented duo. "Dexter and Frank are grand little boys and full of beans," Diana writes in a recent posting on her official website. "Sleep often seems like a distant memory, but we are all having a wonderful time."
And it seems her and Elvis' passion for music has already been handed down to their kids. "The boys certainly seem to love the music we play for them, whether it is Cat Anderson, Howlin' Wolf or Nellie The Elephant," she says. "I have even been able to play the piano for them on occasion without complaint."
Perhaps motherhood has influenced the 42-year-old jazz crooner's decision to return to the stage on May 6. Proceeds from the Toronto benefit concert will go towards an infants' health programme at the city's Mount Sinai hospital.
