Among the host of glamorous stars turning for a stunning gala dinner, there were two particular ladies who were especially spellbinding. Harry Potter author JK Rowling looked magical in a flowing chiffon creation, while Emma Watson was unrecognisable from her tomboyish on screen persona as Harry's best friend Hermione Granger. The 17-year-old actress cut an elegant figure in a black and gold gown with feather detailing
The elegant pair joined leading lights of the worlds of film, fashion and music in the grand setting of Hampton Court for the stylish event hosted by Russian politician Mikhail Gorbachev for the foundation he established in memory of his late wife Raisa. A Russian midsummer fantasy was the theme for the do - which raised funds for children's charities - and the host of A-list names seemed to have kept it in mind in choosing their outfits.
Like JK, actress Anna Friel went for classic glamour in a flowing mint green gown, in an almost identical shade to the author's. Midnight hues were also a popular choice with the ladies - Elle Mcpherson opted for a black floor-length off-the-shoulder gown, while Minnie Driver was chic in a above-the-knee satin dress in the same colour.
And it wasn't just the ladies bringing red carpet glamour to the fundraiser. Looking particularly dapper at the £1,000-a-head dinner was Bob Geldof. The 55-year-old turned out in a white bow tie and tails, adorning his jacket with a row of medals, including the honours he received from the Queen in 1986.
