The red carpet was rolled out to honour eight of the country's finest actors, musicians, sports stars and humanitarian heroes by inducting them into Canada's Walk Of Fame at Toronto's Hummingbird Centre on Saturday night. One of this year's most glamorous inductees was Edmonton-born Wild Hogs actress Jill Hennessy, who shared her special moment with her her hunky actor husband Paolo Mastropietro and identical twin sister Jacqueline. "It's such an honour," she said. "Being here in Canada is the best."
Also excited to become one of the newest Walk Of Famers was For Your Consideration's Catherine O'Hara. "I'm a proud Canadian, and more than a little embarrassed about all this attention turned my way," revealed the modest comedy actress. A big ice hockey fan, she had an especially exciting encounter on the red carpet when she met fellow inductee, former Toronto Maple Leaf great Johnny Bower. "I'm so happy to meet you," she said smiling from ear to ear.
Legendary Away From Her star Gordon Pinsent was greeted by throngs of fans after he accepted the honour. He was more than happy to sign autographs for his many admirers, one of whom referred to him as "hunky Gordon" - something that tickled him greatly. "I never knew I would grow up to be a hunk," he joked.
This year's gala was hosted by Emmy-winning funnyman Eugene Levy, who was inducted in 2006 when the host was WWE wrestler Trish Stratus. "It's such an incredible honour to be hosting the show this year, considering I have absolutely no wrestling experience," he quipped.
My Super Ex-Girlfriend director Ivan Reitman, rock group Nickelback, paraplegic athlete and activist Rick Hansen, NHL legend Johnny Bower and broadcast journalist Lloyd Robertson's names were also cemented into history. They join 101 previous recipients who include Canadian-born funnyman Jim Carrey, multi-talented musician Bryan Adams, supermodel Linda Evangelista, chanteuse Celine Dion and hockey star Wayne Gretzky.
