Ontario-born Grey's Anatomy actress Sandra Oh is no doubt hoping the phrase "third time lucky" rings true after receiving her third consecutive Emmy nomination this week. The 35-year-old star - who is yet to take home the gong for best supporting actress in a drama series – is up for the award again for her portrayal of uber-focused intern Dr Christina Yang in the hit medical drama.
And she's not the only Canadian in the running for glory at the September 16 ceremony. Kiefer Sutherland has once again been shortlisted for the leading actor in a drama series award for his role as counter-terrorist agent Jack Bauer in 24, after taking home the trophy last year. The action-packed series - which won its first Emmy last year for outstanding drama - didn't get a nod this year, however.
Also vying for an award is Oscar-winner Anna Paquin – who hails from Winnipeg, Manitoba - after being nominated for best supporting actress in a miniseries or movie for small-screen western adventure Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee. The film, which also stars Canadian-born actor Adam Beach, has received the most Emmy nominations this year - 17 in total.
