While one hockey ace and actress romance between Mike Comrie and Hilary Duff continues to blossom this summer, it seems another is on the rocks. According to widespread reports, Calgary-born Elisha Cuthbert and her NY Rangers hockey beau Sean Avery have called it a day after two years together, although their publicists have yet to confirm a split.
Since Ontario native Sean was traded from the LA Kings to the NY Rangers hockey team last year, Elisha has admitted the long distances between them meant they rarely got to spend quality time together. Speaking to talk show host Ryan Seacrest back in June, she was was apparently caught off guard when he asked if she was "in love", responding evasively: "Ummm… what is love?"
The 24-year-old blonde beauty has been enjoying a summer of girlie fun, hanging out with pal Paris Hilton in Malibu, but she will have crossed paths with Sean, 27, when they both attended the same beach party hosted by NY socialite Amy Sacco last weekend. For now she'll be focusing on her next major silver screen project, The Six Wives of Henry Lefay. The comedy, which also stars Tim Allen and Andie MacDowell, is set to begin shooting in Connecticut next month.
