Diddy turns Miami beach into the US' hippest party zone

The city of Miami was treated to one of Sean 'Diddy' Combs' bling-filled extravaganzas on New Year's Eve. Wearing a white tuxedo and with a glass of bubbly in hand, the king of glamour got the party started at a swanky ocean-front hotel which was once Frank Sinatra's favourite home from home.

Festivities had begun earlier in the week when the hip-hop mogul entertained guests by sending fleets of bi-planes soaring above the beach with an advert for his new men's cologne bearing a picture of him and the words "I Am The King".

Diddy got in the mood for his New Year do by hooking up with Joaquin Phoenix and the Walk The Line star's brother-in-law Casey Affleck for a lads night on Monday.

Though he's largely kept out of the limelight since announcing his retirement from movies, Joaquin, a former Oscar nominee, seemed happy to spend a night out on the town with the guys.
