With nearly a week having passed since the due date for her second child, Charlotte Church has turned to some natural aids to encourage the baby to hurry up – including tucking into curry and pineapple.

The 22-year-old TV presenter, who welcomed her 15-month-old daughter Ruby at home and planned to do the same this time around, has taken to eating the spicy cuisine, and sipping raspberry tea, in the hope of bringing on the birth naturally rather than having to go into hospital.

"Charlotte's not had any twinges yet so she's trying all the old wives' remedies," a friend told a British newspaper. "She's hoping the curry, pineapples and raspberry tea will work, and has put the midwife's number in her mobile so she can act fast when things happen."

The Welsh songstress and her rugby-playing partner Gavin Henson recently built a mini children's farm area at their home near Cardiff. And if their wishes are granted it'll be receiving plenty of use. Charlotte recently revealed: "I'd like four or six children. But Gavin wants eight."

Charlotte's hoping to induce the baby naturally so she can still have the home birth she planned. Her partner Gavin will miss out on the first couple of months of the newborn's life due to commitments with the Welsh rugby team in February and March
