As Barack Obama's girls have their status as the most famous children on the planet confirmed by the launch of dolls representing them, the outgoing First Daughters have been giving the youngsters friendly advice about how to handle their new life.
Writing in an open letter to ten-year-old Malia and Sasha, seven, George W Bush's twins Jenna and Barbara urge them to enjoy living in the "magical" White House. "Four years go by so fast, so absorb it all, enjoy it all," urged the 27-year-olds in a US publication.
Well placed to offer words of wisdom, Jenna and Barbara having experienced life in the executive mansion twice – the first time as young children during grandfather George Snr's tenure as commander-in-chief and then latterly as teenagers.
Tips include suggestions to "slide down the banisters" and go "trick-or-treating down the plane aisle" if they find themselves on a flight over Halloween.
Their letter concludes on a more sober tone, telling the youngsters they should "surround themselves with loyal friends" and above all "remember who your dad really is".
