There were two reality TV talent show highlights in store for British viewers at the weekend, with the culmination of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Eurovision star search Your Country Needs You and another gripping week of Dancing On Ice.

The nation has pinned its hopes for Eurovision Song Contest glory on London-born stage school graduate Jade Ewen. The 21-year-old won over the audience with a rousing rendition of new Lord Lloyd-Webber-penned ballad My Time, and was declared winner of the BBC1 contest after scoring top in the phone vote.

"I'm almost waiting for someone to say it was all a dream and I didn't win," says Jade, who will be accompanied by Sir Andrew on the piano at this year's ceremony in Moscow.

Meanwhile there were laughs a plenty on ITV1 show Dancing On Ice as former EastEnders star Todd Carty put in another less than perfect performance yet was kept in the competition by viewers. The 45-year-old scored just 7.5 out of 30 for his shaky routine, which he ended on a horizontal note by taking to his back on the ice.

"I want to encourage you Todd, but there's not a lot of skating to mark," Judge Karen Barber told the actor, who has been compared to Strictly underdog John Sergeant. "But what there is, is entertainment value."

Meanwhile there was more hilarious action from Todd Carty on Dancing On Ice. He may have taken a ribbing from judges after scrambling across the ice on his back during his latest routine, but Todd is a favourite with viewers. Clearly entertained by his antics they saved him from the skate-off again after he received the lowest score of the evening
