Take That have given a little-known singer the gig of a lifetime. North Londoner Gary Go will join the chart-toppers on The Circus Live tour, set to play to one million people in June alone.
"It's totally blown me away," said the 24-year-old singer-songwriter. "I grew up near Wembley and now I'm actually on the road to Wembley."
Lead vocalist Gary Barlow handpicked the young musician after being impressed by his "passion and enthusiasm". His songs are described as delicately crafted ballads in the mould of Elton John or Coldplay.
While the unknown performer will go on stage ahead of the guys, their former colleague Robbie Williams has been ruled out for a reunion, temporarily at least.
Speaking about his old friend on Radio One, 37-year-old Gary said he couldn't imagine changing the line-up because "it's taken us three years to get to this point".
Fans shouldn't lose hope in the band getting together as a quintet again, though. "If there comes a time when we can all get in the studio or something again I think everyone would be up for it," he said.
