Sophie Ellis-Bextor and her musician husband Richard Jones have welcomed a second son, Kit Valentine.
Complications meant the new arrival was born nine weeks ahead of schedule by emergency caesarean. He weighed just 2lb 10oz.
The 29-year-old pop star was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia when she was carrying her elder son, four-year-old son Sonny.
Sophie's mum, former TV presenter Janet Ellis, shared the happy news on a breakfast programme on Tuesday. "Sophie's just had her second little boy. He was early, nine weeks early, but he is doing fine. He is doing very well."
Speaking outside the couple's West London home, the singer's husband Richard said: "I'd be lying if I said it wasn’t stressful. It's been dramatic, but we are very happy."
