One New York thoroughfare has been given added distinction by temporarily being renamed after a famous rock band.
A section of Manhattan's 53rd Street will be called U2 Way for a week to mark the release of the Irish group's 12th studio album No Line On The Horizon.
Bono and his colleagues, one of whom is legendary guitarist The Edge, looked pleased as their name went up above the busy Big Apple thoroughfare at a ceremony presided over by the city's mayor Michael Bloomberg.
Proudly showing off a sign emblazoned with the new name, the musician joked: "Edge just said this is the first time he's been seen with a street sign and not been arrested."
