Spirits were high at a London TV and radio awards this week as famous faces from the industry feted outstanding colleagues. The Loose Women team, including recently engaged Carol McGiffin, were in a particularly jubilant mood as they scooped the best daytime programme trophy.

Former Big Breakfast host Johnny Vaughan also indulged in a little larking around with co-presenter Lisa Snowdon after landing two awards. The 42-year-old broadcaster said he was "chuffed" to be twice on the winners' podium to accept the best breakfast show prize and the radio personality of the year gong.

Other winners at the annual Television Radio and Industries Club Awards included Gary Lineker, who scored the sports presenter prize. Sir Trevor McDonald beat Fiona Phillips and Fiona Bruce to win top newscaster of the year, while Strictly Come Dancing was named best reality TV show.
