Just hours after a high court judge awarded his wife a divorce, Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone revealed he still hopes to patch things up with former Armani model Slavica.
"Maybe after she has thought about it we can get back together," the 78-year-old motor racing billionaire told the Daily Mail. "In fact, I see no reason at all why we shouldn't even get married again. Other divorced people have done it, why can't we?"
The F1 boss, who faces the possibility of a £1 billion settlement, acknowledges, however, that the last time he spoke to his 50-year-old Croatia-born former wife was ten days ago. "It's true we're not really talking, but who knows?" he says.
After ignoring her divorce papers, Bernie, who is now living alone at the couple's £10 million marital home in Chelsea, tried to win his statuesque wife back. He instructed his lawyers to be reasonable regarding her demands, hoping it might change her mind.
The paper also reports that in the midst of their separation the couple – who were married for 25 years and have two daughters - had a one-night reconciliation. It did not last though. "I thought things would be wonderful again, but then afterwards it was back to where we were," admits Bernie.
