Making her final appearance on British TV on Thursday, the late EastEnders star Wendy Richard brings a positive message to fellow cancer sufferers in a moving documentary.

The actress – who passed away last month – decided to make Wendy Richard: To Tell You The Truth, which charts her battle with the disease, to dispel the fears associated with chemotherapy, and to encourage others to have the potentially life-saving treatment.

And the show gives a clear glimpse of the 65-year-old's brave approach. "One thing you must do is not give up. You must remain positive," she declares. "Don't give up – it's not the British way of doing things".

Aware of her public profile Wendy adds: "You're there to give hope and encouragement to other women going through the same thing. So even if you're just popping out to the shops, you want to look your best".

"Don't give up – it's not the British way of doing things," urges the former EastEnders actress in her final small screen appearance, a moving BBC documentary about the challenges she faced during her last illness
