Jade Goody's husband Jack Tweed put his grief behind him to take her two sons out for an afternoon of fun – and vowed to make her proud by being a good stepdad.
"I've had to do so much growing up these few months. Jade and I went through so much together," the 21-year-old said in a newspaper interview.
The former tearaway promised his wife he'd remain close to her children following her death. True to his word he picked the boys up from school, holding on to their hands tightly as they headed to an indoor playground accompanied by Jack's mother Mary.
He then spent an hour crawling through the ball park in Essex on his hands and knees with five-year-old Bobby and Freddie, four. After a meal, Jack hugged the boys and handed them back to their maternal grandmother Jackiey Budden.
"Freddie was only 18 months when Jack got with Jade so he has really grown up with Jack," said a friend close to the family. "Both boys love Jack and he adores them."
Jack was due in court to be sentenced on a charge of assault later this week, but his lawyers managed to have his hearing postponed until mid-April. This will mean the grieving widower can put all his energies into preparing for his wife's funeral on April 4.
Plans are falling into place for the event which is expected to watched by millions. Jade will be laid to rest as she wished, wearing her ivory wedding dress and wedding ring.
