After wiping away tears as he helped carry Jade Goody's white casket into the church, Jack Tweed was the first to pay tribute to his late wife at the funeral. The 21-year-old told the congregation he had asked God to help him mend his "broken heart" and "shattered soul" in a moving poem he had written especially for the service.

"If only I could stop the clock and turn back the hands of time, to a moment in a crowded room when your eyes looked into mine," the 21-year-old read. "If only I could walk once more on a sandy beach with you, holding hands with Bob and Fred the way we used to do."

He also described why Jade meant so much to him. "You were always there beside me through the laughter and the tears, you made me feel so special and soothed away my fears," said the part-time model.

"My life will never be the same without you by my side," he continued. "Grief almost too much to bear, pain difficult to hide."

And Jack finished with this sentiment: "When we look into the sky for the brightest star above, Bobby, me and Freddie will send you all our love."

After Jack's tribute, mourners watched a montage of still and moving images of her while listening to the Beatles hit She Loves You. It ended with a film clip of Jade saying: "That's it from me. See you around maybe. Bye."

It was a touching moment on a sad day during which thousands of fans turned out to pay their last respects to the reality TV star, who died on Mothers' Day after losing her battle with cervical cancer.

Her publicist Max Clifford said he thought Jade would be thrilled with how the day's proceedings had gone. "She'll have a big smile on her face when she sees what's going on today," he said.
