Twenty years after first slipping into their elaborate Red Dwarf costumes the four male leads of the hit show are back. And they're joined by a glamorous new co-star.
Striking brunette Sophie Winkleman, who will wed Lord Freddie Windsor in the autumn, brings feminine charm to a brand new spaceship adventure entitled Red Dwarf: Back To Earth.
Best known for her role as Big Suze in Channel 4 comedy Peep Show, Sophie will guest star as sultry Russian Katerina Bartikovsky, a resurrected hologram science officer. "She's a sort of nemesis figure for Rimmer," explains Chris Barrie of his new cast mate's character. "I don’t think I've ever had to perform in a not-get-it-on kind of way with someone so gorgeous in all my life."
The Easter weekend special - which finally sees the crew return to earth – stars the 28-year-old alongside original cast members Craig Charles, as Liverpudlian technician Dave Lister, Chris as neurotic hologram Arnold Rimmer, The Cat – a preening half-man half-cat – played by Londoner Danny John-Jules and robotic servant Kryten portrayed by Robert Llewellyn.
Unable to attend the premiere screening of the show on Wednesday due to his current commitments with Coronation Street Craig clearly felt he was missing out. "We've been getting very sad texts all day saying, 'What are you doing now lads?'," revealed Robert.
