Russell Brand is due to make his return to Britain's radio waves on Sunday by presenting a football special. The Essex comedian – who fell foul of radio bosses after an incident also involving Jonathan Ross - has teamed up with pal Noel Gallagher to front a two-hour sporting special billed as "a heavy dose of cutting-edge comedy, controversial commentary and the odd eye-opening anecdote".
While Russell is a West Ham United fan, his Oasis guitarist co-host is a loyal Manchester City supporter.
It's not the first time the pair have teamed up on the airwaves. The dad-of-two was a frequent guest on Russell's BBC 2 radio show – from which he resigned six months ago following the Andrew Sachs scandal. And the musician's presence was so ubiquitous Russell often referred to him as an unofficial co-presenter.
The Talksport programme is advertised as a one-off, although it's understood it may become a regular feature if the show is a success.
