Since her appearance on Britain's Got Talent stunned UK audiences last weekend Scottish charity worker Susan Boyle continues her stratospheric rise to stardom. With her audition rendition of the Les Miserables number of I Dreamed A Dream notching up an incredible 18 million hits on YouTube, a new recording has surfaced which further illustrates the 48-year-old's amazing talent.

On a 1999 local newspaper-sponsored charity record entitled Music For The Millennium Celebration, Susan sang Ella Fitzgerald classic Cry Me A River. The CD was the brainchild of local newspaper editor Eddie Anderson and was recorded at Whitburn Academy, where X Factor winner Leon Jackson went to school.Mr Anderson, who had been searching for unsigned acts top participate, he'd found something special as soon as he heard her sing. "I was amazed," he said. "It was probably the same reaction as everyone had last Saturday. "Susan was exactly the same then as she is now. She has a fabulous and unique talent."

Only 1,000 copies of Music For The Millennium Celebration were produced. If Susan appears on the Oprah Winfrey show, for which she's already being courted, she's in with a chance to conquer the US charts. In little over a week the West Lothian, lass - who's lived alone with her cat Pebbles since losing her 91-year-old mother Bridget two years ago, and who admits she has never been on a date or even been kissed - has gone from obscurity to worldwide fame. And the reverberations are being felt from her native Blackburn to California.

She recently admitted in a interview with a American talk show host Diane Sawyer that she was bullied when she was younger - "they always do that with someone who is quiet and I tended to be quiet at school". "Well, they have turned around. They are nice to me now." Although happy to speak out about her past, conservatively dressed Susan is keeping mum on the future likelihood of a Britain’s Got Talent makeover. "You’ll have to watch the programme and find out, she teased.
