Just when the world was thinking overnight sensation Susan Boyle was a dead cert to win Britain's Got Talent , a genuine rival has emerged to challenge her for the talent contest crown.

Fresh-faced 12-year-old schoolboy Shaheen Jafargholi was the star of Saturday's second episode of the show, which was watched by an audience of 13.5 million.

The smiling youngster even held his nerve when Simon Cowell stopped him in the middle of his performance of Amy Winehouse tune Valerie telling him it wasn't the right song for him and asked him to pick another.

Shaheen bravely redeemed himself with a mind-blowing rendition of Michael Jackson's Who's Lovin' You?, which brought the house down.

With the cheers and applause of the audience still ringing in his ears the boy wonder heard Simon predicting a bright future for him. "This is how one song can change your life," TV's Mr Nasty told him. "This may be the start of something special with you, young man."

Fellow panellist Amanda Holden was equally impressed. "It does not happened to me very often but I do the goosebump test. I got it with Paul Potts, with George Sampson and I got it with you", she revealed, referring to the show's previous winners.

While Shaheen has been given odds of 7-2 by the bookies, church volunteer Susan is still the 1-2 favourite. This weekend fans of the 48-year-old Scot were being turned away from house by a minder – as her global audience topped 40 million.
