On Wednesday celeb couple Katie Price and Peter Andre announced their separation after four years of marriage. But just hours after the break-up was confirmed in a joint statement from the couple, conflicting accounts of who actually took the decision to end their marriage began to surface.
Model Katie – aka Jordan - released a further statement. "Pete is the love of my life, and my life. We have children together and I am devastated and disappointed by his decision to separate and divorce me as I married him for life," said the 30-year-old.
"This is not what I want and the decision has been taken out of my hands. I will not comment further or do any interviews regarding the separation, but I will always love my Pete."
Meanwhile a newspaper reported that it was Pete – who 24 hours before the announcement had written a magazine column about their hope for more children - who had actually been surprised by his wife's decision to call time on the relationship.
"He's very upset. This has all come as a complete shock," a pal tells the Daily Mail. "I did not want to ask him the reason for the split but I can tell you he is very upset."
Some commentators are already speculating this might not be the end for the couple, who are understood to be worth £30 million. And bookmakers are offering odds of 2-1 they will be back together by the end of the year.
They are parents to three children, six-year-old Harvey, the model's son from a previous relationship, three-year-old Junior, also a boy, and 21-month-old daughter Princess Tiaamii.
