Madonna is clearly in a good place right now.

The singer's sunny demeanour was evident this week as she enjoyed a night out with her designer pal Stella McCartney in London.

Usually reserved in front of snappers, the Material Girl didn't seem to mind as they captured photos of her laughing with Sir Paul's daughter as they left a restaurant in Mayfair.

The 50-year-old's new-found joie de vivre can be put down to her recently adopted daughter Mercy, who is now firmly ensconced in the family.

For the past few weeks Madonna has been firmly focused on the new arrival. She's been sharing one-on-one bonding sessions with the youngster to ease her into life as the daughter of one of the world's biggest pop stars - a vastly different prospect from her existence in Malawi.

With the four-year-old now more relaxed in her new environment with siblings Rocco, eight, three-year-old David and 12-year-old Lourdes, the singer is getting back into the swing of her professional commitments and social life.

She was on stage at the weekend to continue her world tour, at London's 02 Arena, where she paid a typically quirky tribute to her pal Michael Jackson.
