Amy Winehouse and Blake Fielder-Civil's tumultuous love story is officially coming to an end in the next few weeks. The jazz singer is set to be divorced by her estranged husband, with a judge expected to grant a decree nisi at the Family Division of the High Court in London on Thursday.
Court documents indicate that Blake is filing for divorce, though the specific reason is not yet known. It is anticipated that he will cite adultery, spurred by pictures showing Amy getting close to another man during a holiday in St. Lucia. The potential inclusion of adultery in the divorce proceedings raises questions about whether Blake, who initiated the divorce in January while serving a prison sentence, will seek a claim on Amy's £10 million fortune.
According to British marriage laws, the couple will have to wait six weeks and a day for the divorce to become final. A spokesperson for 25-year-old Amy stated, "She is ready to move on following the end of the marriage. Amy has not had any contact with Blake for months and is focusing on the future. She is finishing her album and in good health."
The "Back to Black" singer and former grammar school student Blake tied the knot in 2007 in an intimate ceremony in Miami, Florida. Their turbulent relationship, stemming from their meeting in a Camden pub, inspired many of Amy's hit songs, including "Tears Dry On Their Own." Amy, who recently returned to London after eight months in the Caribbean, appears healthier than when she left. Alongside working on her third album, the brunette singer is gearing up to launch her record label, expected to release the debut album of her 13-year-old goddaughter Dionne Bromfield later this year.
