Amy Winehouse and Blake Fielder-Civil's turbulent marriage is over. The jazz chanteuse's estranged husband was awarded a divorce in the Family Division of the High Court in London on Thursday.
The couple – who were not in court – were awarded a decree nisi in proceedings lasting just a few minutes. A decree absolute is expected within six weeks and a day.
Court documents show Blake filed for divorce on the grounds of adultery, after pictures emerged of Amy getting cosy with another man while on holiday in St Lucia.
The music video producer said: "The respondent confessed the adultery to me in April 2008." Blake added that since then he and Amy had been living in separate households. The singer said she received his divorce petition whilst in the Caribbean. She also stated that she didn't object to paying for the costs of proceedings.
It's unclear whether Blake will receive any financial settlement from the diva's £10 million fortune. A spokesperson for 25-year-old Amy said: "She is ready to move on following the end of the marriage. Amy has not had any contact with Blake for months and is focusing on the future. She is finishing her album and in good health."
The Black To Black singer married former grammar school boy Blake in 2007 in an intimate ceremony in Miami, Florida. They met in a Camden pub, and their on-off relationship provided the inspiration for many of Amy's hit songs, including Tears Dry On Their Own.
She arrived back in London this week after eight months in the Caribbean, looking healthier than when she left. As well as working on her third album, the brunette singer is preparing to launch her record label which is expected to release its first album - the work of her 13-year-old goddaughter Dionne Bromfield - later this year.
