After living the first two years of her life largely out of the spotlight, little Angel Iris was the centre of attention this week as she joined mum Mel B at a charity baseball game in LA. The youngster was cute as a button – and the real talking point was her hair, which had been cut into a mini Mohawk.
The daring do shows that the former Spice Girl – who recently finished a run in the saucy Vegas burlesque show Peepshow – is keen to pass on her funky style to her daughter, whose father is comedian Eddie Murphy. And as the youngster pulled funny faces on the red carpet, posing with 10-year-old Phoenix, Mel's daughter from a previous relationship, a resemblance to her famous father was evident. At this early age, she's already showing signs of having inherited his charisma.
Leeds girl Mel and Eddie dated for six months in 2006 but split after the US funnyman announced the end of their relationship on a Dutch TV show. He originally questioned the paternity of the little girl but has since acknowledged she is his and has reportedly agreed to see her and play a part in her life.
Thirty-six-year-old Mel spent 15 months finalising a child support settlement with Eddie in the LA courts. They came to an agreement earlier this year and both signed non-disclosure contracts, preventing them from discussing the settlement in public. Reports estimated the final sum to amount to £35,000 a month until Angel turns 18 - a total of about £7 million.
