Following Paula Abdul's shocking announcement on Twitter this week that she will not be returning as one of the American Idol judges, thoughts are already turning to who could be lined up to replace her.
Step forward former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, who has agreed to guest star in an episode of the talent show. "Yes Victoria will be making a "one-off" appearance as a guest judge," the 35-year-old's spokesman confirmed on Thursday. It has been reported that Posh will receive around £155,000 for appearing on the programme, which draws an average of 26.3 million viewers per episode.
"Victoria is hugely flattered as this is one of the biggest profile gigs in America," a source told a British paper. "Network bosses would love to give her the job full-time and it looks like it's there for her if she wants it."
On Wednesday, Opposites Attract singer Paula, 47, announced she was quitting the reality show and would not be joining fellow judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, and Kara DioGuardi when it returns in January 2010. "With sadness in my heart, I've decided not to return," she tweeted. "I'll miss nurturing all the new talent but, most of all, being a part of a show that I helped from day one become an international phenomenon."
