Geri Halliwell takes her first steps to getting airborne with flying lesson

Perhaps it was the birthday present of a helicopter ride over London from her boyfriend that inspired her. Geri Halliwell was spotted learning the basics of flying at an airfield in Buckinghamshire this week, and by the looks of things, she is getting the hang of it.

She was certainly dressed for the part. With a big smile on her face, the former Spice Girl arrived in combat trousers, a vest top, lace-up black boots, and, of course, Top Gun-style aviator sunglasses for her first lesson in a helicopter. There was no sign of her beau of four months, London aristocrat Henry Beckwith – the cousin of socialite Tamara. But he will no doubt be delighted with his girl's enthusiasm and, as a certified helicopter pilot himself, can offer her words of encouragement.

Geri is already pretty keen - even an emergency landing wasn’t enough to deter the 37-year-old singer from taking to the skies herself. In June, the mum-of-one and her boyfriend, who was piloting the five-seater aircraft, were forced to land in a family's back garden in Devon when sea fog made flying impossible. "They were lovely and down to earth," resident Marilyn Barlow said of the surprise arrival. "And Bluebell said she wanted to live at our house."

Geri is not the first celebrity to get airborne. Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Chris Evans, and his wife Natasha are among the stars who have been seen taking flying lessons.
