In Gary Lineker's former profession, they like to talk about 'a game of two halves'. It's an approach that clearly suited the footballer-turned-TV pundit and his bride for their wedding party too.
A simple civil ceremony, costing only £400, with only two witnesses present, on Tuesday was followed a few days later by the kind of extravagantly romantic affair that every young woman dreams of. Model Danielle Bux looked ecstatic as she posed for photos with her new husband at a clift-top hotel in Ravello, Italy where the blessing was held.
Radiant in a £9,000 corseted, silk gown by Suzanne Neville, completed by a veil, the 30-year-old was given away by her brother Kaid and attended by her daughter, Ella, seven in the role of flower girl. Petals strewed the aisle and the strains of Ave Maria sounded through the hotel garden as she went to meet her groom. Then the new Mr and Mrs Lineker invited guests aboard a yacht to toast them over a celebratory glass of bubbly. For the open-air dinner afterwards Danielle swapped her classic white silk dress for a chic white and grey overlay design.
One onlooker said of the reception: "There were speeches, bouquets of pink roses and the setting was absolutely unbelievable. "They had a violinist and an opera singer – it was absolutely perfect."
