Two of music's hottest starlets brought glamour to the slums of Brazil this week. Ahead of the world-famous Rio Carnival which kicks off on Saturday, Beyonce and Alicia Keys have made colourful appearances in several areas across the city filming the video for their first duet together, Put it in a Love Song

To the astonishment of local residents, the two beauties performed segments of the video together in the Morro de Conceicao dressed in carnivalesque costumes. For one of her solo scenes, 29-year-old Alicia - whose album, The Element of Freedom, features the single - appeared in a transparent white gown on the roof of a house in Morro Santa Marta with the iconic figure of Christ The Redeemer in the distance. She also earlier filmed in Dona Marta, well-known as the location for Michael Jackson's 1996 video for They Don't Care About Us

Her equally beautiful co-star, who recently picked up six awards at the Grammys, was spotted in the Praca Maua square posing in a striking blue and green playsuit. It might have been the first time the two ladies worked together, but collaborating came very naturally to them. Alicia – good friends with 28-year-old Beyonce's husband Jay-Z – recently told MTV of the experience: "Her and I together was like reunited sisters." Of course, the two singers are in town at just the right time.

Both Alicia and Beyonce, who have been on tour in Brazil, will be able to enjoy the Rio Carnival along with a number of other celebrities heading there for the festivities. Madonna, whose romance with Brazilian model Jesus Luz has reportedly come to an end, has already arrived back in the city and has checked into the same hotel as Beyonce. The 50-year-old queen of pop and other stars will watch the carnival from exclusive VIP boxes lining the parade route.
