One Wimbledon fan not obsessed with Andy Murray's progress is Shakira. The snake-hipped singer cheered on her pal Rafa Nadal, rising to her feet to applaud him during a straight-sets victory that took him into the quarter finals.
They've been friendly since the Spanish tennis ace starred in a sultry video for the Colombian bombshell. Gypsy showing them writhing about provocatively together caused her a few problems with her long-term boyfriend Antonio de la Rua. "Obviously it's not his favourite thing in the world to watch that video," she admitted. "But it's my job and part of what I do."
As Shakira witnessed her pal's majestic performance at the All England Club, Scotsman Andy was also having a good day. The British number one cruised into the last eight, bringing a little cheer to sports fans still down in the dumps after England's early World Cup departure.
Andy roared in celebration after completing his match at a packed centre court. It may be that the visit of the Queen – her first in 33 years – last week has given the boost he needs. The 23-year-old is the only male competitor left not to drop a set so far.
