'Sorry Coleen': Jennifer Thompson's parents apologise over allegations

September 9, 2010

The parents of Jennifer Thompson, the woman at the centre of allegations concerning England footballer Wayne Rooney, have issued an extraordinary apology to his wife Coleen. Oil company engineer Hamish Thompson and his wife Danuta said: "We would like to offer our most sincere apologies to Coleen Rooney and her family. "This may sound somewhat hollow, but my wife and I would never condone what has or may have happened. "We had absolutely no idea about any of the allegations that have been made."

Meanwhile, Coleen is said to have spoken to her football star husband Wayne in a frank 45-minute phone call concerning the allegations that have rocked their marriage. Following his return from Switzerland where he scored a goal for England on Tuesday night, she is said to have agreed to the "make or break" discussion.

He apparently arrived back at their empty £4.5 million mansion at 4 am on Wednesday morning. Coleen has been staying at the home of her parents (pictured), with the couple's son Kai since the furore broke.

The 24-year-old footie ace has reportedly accepted the anguish the revelations about his infidelities have caused and is desperately trying to save their union. A source told the Daily Mirror: "It was a long painful talk. The first of many they will be having."

The Liverpool lass was reportedly willing to hear his side of the story for the sake of their marriage and their baby. A friend of 24-year-old Coleen is said to have told the newspaper: “This has come like a bolt from the blue and it is hard to appreciate just what an impact it has had on her. "She does not know what to do for the best".
