A life in pictures: remembering big screen legend Tony Curtis

Laying a flower gently on his casket, Jamie Lee Curtis bid a sad farewell to her father Tony Curtis.

The touching scene unfolded at the Hollywood legend's Las Vegas funeral, where family and famous friends paid their respects.

Attendees included Kirk Douglas and Arnold Schwarzenegger, who spoke of the late actor's genuineness. "He was always paying so much attention to me, even when I was a nobody," said the Califonia governor. Although there were undoubtedly tears, these were also mixed with laughter. Clips from his life and movies had people cheering and clapping, and at one point Jamie even did an impression of her father. She told the crowd: "All of us got something from him. I, of course, got his desperate need for attention."

Tony's wife Jill Vandenberg described her husband as "a once-in-a lifetime man". She added: "People always wonder what he was really like. He was exactly like you thought he would be. He was that charming, handsome man you saw on the screen." Tony, who died last week aged 85, was laid to rest with some of his favourite items – including his iPhone, medals, gold coins and his late son's baby shoes.
