She's a California Gurl, but Katy Perry is embracing Indian tradition for her upcoming nuptials. The 25-year-old singer was seen arriving at Jaipur airport with her soon-to-be husband Russell Brand on Wednesday wearing an Indian bridal nose ring known as a nath.Katy's decorative gold chain fell from her nose across her right cheek, and was pinned in her hair just above her right ear.It is customary for the bride to wear the nath throughout her wedding day until her husband removes it that night to symbolise the end of a woman's virginity.
En-route to their Indian wedding, Katy and Russell were seen waiting in Mumbai for their transferring flight to Jaipur.They've been unusually camera-shy on their travels, Katy attempting to cover her face with a coat (pictured) while Russell, 35, wheeled their luggage through Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport.Writing on her Twitter page, the pop singer said to fans the "greatest gift u can give us is respect & love during this private X." It is thought that around 85 guests will be attending.And so far the arrivals lounge at Jaipur airport has welcomed Katy's family, including her brother and sister, and Russell's mum Barbara.
Other guests expected to attend include Jonathan Ross, David Walliams and Lara Stone, and Rihanna, Katy's maid of honour.It's been reported that the ceremony is taking place on Saturday in the luxe Rambagh Palace, the same location where Russell proposed on New Year's Eve.The whirlwind couple had been dating for just three months when he popped the question after a romantic evening that included a private dinner and a fireworks display.As well as the nath, another Indian tradition expected to feature in the wedding is the arrival of Russell on a white horse. It's thought Katy may also get her hands decorated with henna.
While the wedding looks set to be an extravagant affair, Russell recently revealed the nuptials - said to include fireworks and live music from P Diddy - will be "normal"."It will have a first dance, it will have all of those things, like anything else," he said. "It's no more interesting or no less spectacular than any marriage of anybody, so it's very beautiful and incredible and wonderful, but it's also utterly mundane."
