Ever since it was confirmed that Penelope Cruz was four-and-a-half-months pregnant back in September, little has been seen of the Spanish actress and her husband Javier Bardem. So when the fiercely private couple stepped out in London this week, all eyes were on Penelope's blossoming baby bump.
Now six months pregnant, the 36-year-old star's rounded tummy was clearly visible through her black smock dress as she, Javier and her younger sister Monica visited the Groucho members' club in the British capital. Clean-shaven Javier behaved like a perfect gentleman on the outing, holding open the doors for his expectant wife, and leading her by the hand as the trio left the building.
The Spanish screen stars have taken pains to stay out of the spotlight ever since they stated dating in 2007 while filming Vicky Cristina Barcelona. So far both have kept quiet about the impending arrival – last month Javier very briefly broke silence to further confirm the news, saying: "It is true. I am very happy."
Penelope and Javier, who have been friends for nearly 20 years, have always tried to keep their romance under the radar. And their wedding back in July was typically low-key with a small private ceremony at a friend's Bahamian home.
But back in May, the 41-year-old left the actress in tears with his public declarations of love as he collected his best actor trophy at Cannes. "I share this joy with my friends, my companion, my love: Penelope: I owe you a lot and I love you so much."
Penelope is currently filming Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides with Johnny Depp in London. According to the Sun, her sister Monica is set to stand in for her pregnant sibling as a body double in some scenes.
