Girl power: Victoria joins American political royalty at Women's Conference

October 27, 2010

Since arriving in the States three years ago, we've seen her holding court with Hollywood hot shots like Tom Cruise and Will Smith and their wives Katie Holmes and Jada Pinkett Smith. Victoria Beckham is also very much at home with the country's fashion elite, with her most recent collection receiving a rapturous reception at New York fashion week. And this week Mrs Beckham's star power gave her access to another influential group – the most powerful women in the US.

Victoria was a guest at the Women's Conference, hosted by Maria Shriver, the wife of California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and a member of the Kennedys on her mother's side. Dressed in a striking red dress from her Autumn/Winter 2010 collection Posh sat listening to speakers that included senior politicians, along with Oprah Winfrey, the first lady Michelle Obama and her predecessor in the White House Laura Bush.

This year's theme is 'It's Time'. Organisers hope "to inspire women to see this challenging moment in history as an opportunity to come together and transform ourselves, our communities and our world".
