She's been absent from his side in recent months, and rumours of a split have been rife. But Mezhgan Hussainy and Simon Cowell are still very much an item.
That much was clear this week as they put on a show of unity at the International Emmy Awards, where Simon was honoured. The X Factor judge put his arm around his fiancée's waist as they posed on the red carpet. For her part Mezhgan – elegant in a strapless green gown – smiled radiantly. Their appearance came a day after Mezhgan responded to questions from a Sunday newspaper journalist about their relationship status. "I still love him and he says he still loves me and we are still engaged - as far as I know," said the glam 37-year-old.
The US-based make-up artist did say the couple had been "apart for a while" due to Simon's commitments with The X Factor back in Britain. Mezhghan was every inch the proud fiancé as she watched Simon pick up the Founders Award from media mogul Rupert Murdoch. In his acceptance speech he joked: "My life was boring before I went on television."
Other winners named included Bob Hoskins, who won best actor for his role in The Street and Helena Bonham Carter - who was awarded best actress for playing author Enid Blyton in Enid. However neither were at the ceremony, which honours TV programmes produced outside of America, and their actors. Jason Priestly (above left) hosted and celeb guests included Mad Men's Elizabeth Moss (above right) – elegant in a peach gown - and Melissa Joan Hart, who chose a curve-hugging black number.
