Michael C Hall and his wife Jennifer Carpenter are divorcing. The Dexter stars, who play brother and sister on the hit TV show, have decided to end their two year marriage, their representatives confirmed to Entertainment Weekly. "Having been separated for some time, Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C Hall have filed for divorce," the reps said in a statement, adding that the split was amicable.
Jennifer, 31, was a great support to her husband during his battle with Hodgkin's lymphoma. Michael, 39, announced in January that he was receiving treatment for the disease, and his wife revealed in April that he had made a full recovery. The couple, who met on the set of Dexter, married on New Year's Eve in 2009 after two years of dating. Michael – who received a Golden Globe for best actor in a TV show in January – stars in the Showtime drama as the titular blood spatter analyst who also operates as a serial killer. Jennifer plays his adopted sister and a detective in the same homicide unit.
Despite working on the same show, the actor insisted earlier this year that the couple's personal relationship did not affect their work. "We certainly pride ourselves in being professionals," he said. "We work on the same show but we're not in every scene together. We don’t see each other on set as often as you'd think."
