Still no decision in Mel Gibson domestic violence case

After months of investigations, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's department has still made no decision as to whether Mel Gibson should be charged with domestic violence.A written statement from the department's district said the allegations were "actively under review".

It continued: "Information received will be taken into account in deciding whether or not to file charges. "Any decisions made by the DA's office will be made public in a timely manner." Mel's ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva accuses his of striking her during an incident which took place over a year ago. Detectives are also investigating Mel's claims that the Russian musician tried to extort him with recordings she made of his telephone calls.

The Braveheart actor's lawyers met with prosecutors on Tuesday to provide "information they felt was relevant to the matter", said a Los Angeles County Sheriff spokesperson.Mel denies the claims of domestic violence. If he is trialed and convicted he could face anything from one to four years in jail. Oksana looked calm and collected this week as she was spotted at the airport in with the couple's daughter Lucia. She was bidding farewell to her mother, who had flown in to visit. Both the Russian pianist and Mel  - pictured two months before they parted ways - are fighting for custody of their one-year-old. The couple split in April 2010 after three years of dating, subsequently filing restraining orders against one another.
